When nature takes away our stories…

At this point it would be prudent to say that there is no one left in this country – or even a significant part of the globe – who has not heard of the tragedy that occurred that evening of October 29. That DANA that particularly targeted the Valencia area.

That DANA that left more than two hundred dead, billions of euros in material damage, Broken families, businesses closed perhaps forever and ultimately, a trail of natural destruction.

But he took away much more, and it was today that I found out the story. He swept away culture and knowledge. He took away lessons, learning, romances, mysteries and stories of all kinds. And Above all, he took those wonderful children's stories.

Just a few minutes ago I received a video from Nuria Collado in which he talks about that The Picanya Library has been destroyed, in particular the first floor, the Children and Youth area.

Everything has been lost, and as can be seen in the images, such has been the destruction left in the building that It has been impossible to recover anything that was inside it was found.

How to donate books to the Picanya library?

Nuria has left us a series of instructions that I will update if necessary. She explains it wonderfully, but I wanted to leave it in writing to reach more people.

  • The priority in this case is New or used children's books in good condition.
  • There is no problem in If they are in other languages.
  • From Picanya, Nuria and those responsible for this initiative invite Children who donate their books are asked to include a dedication on the front or back cover.
  • Also to write a message of hope, draw something nice or simply leave your signature.
  • They expect there to be a lot of participation, and so much so that in the case of duplicate copies - or who knows, an excess of donations - will be allocated to schools in the area or even to help other libraries from nearby towns.
  • An agreement has been reached through Correos so that The sending of these books as a donation is completely free. Ask at your office to confirm.
  • For now and if anyone is from the area, prefer not to receive the books in personIt is better through shipping since the works are about to begin.
